Beautiful Melody from Sasaguri

I was watching a concert hold in Sasaguri with some friends at that time. Koto san, a staff of International Office was playing an instrument at the concert. I recorded his solo performance successfully in my camera.

Sasaguri: Lovely Time with Host Family

Japan had a terrible disaster few days ago and I hope everything’s gonna get better soon. :(

Anyway, I want to share a story about last-weekend-home-visit.

On March 11 – 12, I went to Kitaseto Elementary School in Sasaguri for Survival Weekend. I was with some foreign students too. We were introducing our each country to the students there. It was so fun. We played together, we had lunch together, and so on.

In the end of the first-day-class, I went to my host-family with my host-sister, Hisano Sakuragi. She’s a 11-year-old pretty girl. We were going home on foot because their house was quite near from school. First time arriving in the house, I met the grandpa and grandma. They were so nice and friendly. Then I met my host-sister’s brothers, RyouEi and Toshihiro. RyouEi’s 6 years old and Toshihiro’s 9 years old. In the next few minutes, Hisano brought me to a library and she brought me also to her Kanji class. There were many students learning how to write Kanji letter by brush and ink. Finishing the class, Hisano’s mother picked us and drove us home.

On the second day, I was  having my presentation in the school. It was about Indonesia. I played the video of Indonesia tourism object and a video clip of Idola Cilik, Indonesian kids idol. After that, my host family brought me to the biggest Lying-Buddha-Statue in Japan. We were taking some photos there. Then we went to a supermarket to buy some foods to be cooked at home for dinner. At that time, Hisano’s mom and grandma cooked many things. The best food I liked was takoyaki. Even they allowed me to cook it. It was interesting. Here is the picture of takoyaki I made and the URL for another photos.

Sasaguri, Mochi, and Lying Budha

I went to Sasaguri today, to an elementary school exactly. WJC students were going to make mochi, a kind of traditional cake. But unfortunately, there were some WJC students who didn’t go.

Well, we went to Kashii station first, then bought the tickets, and got on the train. We were with Koto-san, he was accompanying us to go to the elementary school.

We changed the train once and then walking to the school. Arriving at the school, there was Ohta-sensei waiting for me and my friends.

Anyway, there was a school festival there. The main activity was making mochi, so many students and their parents participated in it. I was interesting in the making process, especially in hitting the dough of mochi.

WJC students were given the same opportunity. I tried to hit the dough and OMG, the ‘hammer’ was quite heavy. Omokatta ne…

After making mochi, we had lunch in a classroom. Then we said goodbye to the principal and went home.

Some friends finally went back to the dorm but others decided to go to a temple in Sasaguri, including me. There was a giant statue of Budha there. As usual, I and my friends were taking some photos there.

Wait, I forgot to mention who were with me. I was going to the temple with Minto, Insun, Mao, Alex, Sandra, and Aline.

Good news for today: I was a bit disappointed because I lost something but finally I got the better one…Alhamdulillah…^^
